Changes in Reports Brought by the New Google Analytics

We want to inform you about a change in how we collect and analyze data about visitors to Infostud’s websites. Starting from July 2023, we are transitioning from Google Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 (GA4). This is part of a global shift where the entire industry is adapting to the new standard.

Google Analytics 4 is the new standard for data analysis that offers much better capabilities for tracking and understanding user behavior on the web. However, it’s important to note that this transition will also cause certain changes in how we present data in our reports.

Specifically, the numbers for visits to our sites will be somewhat lower than they were before. This does not mean that the number of site visitors is decreasing. This change arises because GA4 uses different methods for counting visits.

 ———————————-

Here’s what it looks like in a concrete example for visits:

Google Universal Analytics -> 1 user visits the site with 4 different devices – counted as 4 different users and 4 visits

Google Analytics 4 -> 1 user visits the site with 4 different devices – since GA4 has more parameters for recognizing a user, it’s counted as 1 user and 1 visit with different sources

 ———————————-

Changes will also affect another metric, which is the average time spent on the page. It will now also be shorter than in previous reports because the new analytics measures only the time during which users were actually engaged with your content on the screen, thus providing more accurate and useful business information.

With all this in mind, the numbers in our future monthly and annual reports will not be directly comparable to the numbers from previous reports we have sent you. Despite this, we assure you that the quality of our services remains unchanged. We look forward to using the new capabilities offered by GA4 to provide you with even better and more detailed information about our visitors and the effects you achieve by using our products.

Thank you for being part of our community and for understanding these changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at poslovi@infostud.com.
